Knitting
I started knitting when I was 5 years old, my Nan taught me alongside my mum.
I picked up knitting again when I was at university, as I would finish my assignments and have nothing to do but watch TV or cook food for all my house mates. So I headed into town, found myself a haberdashery shop, bought some yarn and a pattern and that's how the joy of knitting came back to me.

Learning to Dye
In 2018 I got the chance of a life time to visit & work in Canada 🇨🇦 with my boyfriend Miguel (the Mi to my Mo = Mimo). I thought to myself before we headed off on our new adventure that I would like to learn more about knitting and dyeing yarn. I came across a job by a company called 'Sweet Georgia Yarns', I had never heard of them before but really wanted the job. I became a studio assistant helping them prepare yarn to be dyed and also packing orders for customers. Later on while working there I got to learn a little more about dyeing and this is where my love of this medium really took hold. Canada has some beautiful hand-dyed yarns, that I had never seen before back in the UK.
The Birth of Mimo
We got back to the UK in May 2019 and I thought, I would really like to make a go of starting my own hand-dyed yarn hustle. So with a credit card of £500 and a lot of positive thoughts Mimo was born. Fast forward from 2019, I have moved my online shop from Etsy to my own website and getting the name of Mimo out there. What I love about this industry, is that we are all different and make something that we love. Mimo is about being bright, bold and colourful and basically in your face with happiness.
The Future
In the future I would love to host knitting retreats (I am this May at OKR), workshops, real-life yarn shows, afternoon teas, collaborations with other like minded dyers and designers from around the world 🌎.

And own a makers space called The Makery when crafters can come and make clothes, knit, sip and repeat!
Currently
I just purchased my first home with my partner Mike and we are both really excited. This also means that Mimo will finally have a space to flourish and grow. Which is fantastic news and super exciting. I will be teaching vending this year at local knitting retreats and farmers markets, so make sure to check out my event page and sign up to my newsletter!!!
